STUDIO OINK CREATIVE LAB AND GALLERY

Slowly things are taking shape and we finished our workspace in the front space and the typography on the shop window is fixed. Everything is painted now and we are nearly finished with the gallery and studio space. We hope to be able to open our gallery for you in the beginning of May. It will be very exciting, so let's stay tuned!

DESIGN WITH THE UNKNOWN / STUDIO OINK AT SALONE DEL MOBILE IN MILAN 2016

STUDIO OINK creative lab will be part of Salone del Mobile 2016 in Lambrate. Their project "Design with the Unknown" is a collaboration with British artist Aimee Bollu.

STUDIO OINK has created a small collection of unrecognisable objects, in cooperation with Aimee Bollu. The design process was based around the structure of the unknown; the two design studios have never met, interacting with each other only through social media. Found materials from each other’s cities were collected, traded and consumed by the other, with the outcomes nestling alongside each other in the completed collection. A series of challenges underpin the calm collection of objects. Working with another individual’s material of choice leads one to design for the other, whilst instilling his or her own aesthetic and approach to the object. There are familiar connections between each designer and their found objects, and new influences made for their counterpart. The parts made are used to ponder and question, to refer to the uncertainty in life. Materials assemble, stack and connect. Concoctions of wood, glass and porcelain perform alongside curious pieces of plastic, sponge or other found matter. The resulting collection identifies the aesthetic of both sides in their meticulous and neat approach to design and effortlessly explores connections between strangers, through their ability to connect with objects. Unaware of each other’s progress and designs, the final gathering of pieces alludes to a similar approach to thinking. The resulting transformations of materials alter and exist as new hybrids for collaboration; they are an assemblage of functionless products tied by their selection for unassuming or unknown beauty.

Design with the unknown was an exploration of unfamiliar territory for materials, processes, and people. Creating in different countries, time zones, ideals and expectations, our only common language is the unknown.

Design with the unknown; a collection of objects formed from materials found, collected, traded and consumed by the other designer to inform the creative process and intercept STUDIO OINK and Aimee Bollu’s customary approach to design. Our common language is the unknown, our objects are unidentified.

PORCELAIN STUDIO BOMI FOR STUDIO OINK

Last Friday we went to Berlin to catch some more beautiful and finely selected ceramic and art pieces for our gallery in Leipzig. We met with lovely Korean ceramist Bomi Lee at her atelier and it is such an honor and pleasure to have her unique and beautifully handcrafted porcelain work for our gallery! We would have loved to select all of her work, but we decided for some special pieces. Thank you so much again Bomi, your work is so very wonderful!

Sneak peek of interior project House CAL II

We proudly presents the first results of our interior project House CAL II. There are still a few things to build in and to decorate, like the whole kitchen and some furniture, but the most renovation work is done and this beautiful old stone house got its modern make over by keeping its old structure and details.

INTERIOR DESIGN PROJECT LEIPZIG LINDENAU

We were hired by our client from London and working together with a very kind architect here in Leipzig for this wonderful interior project in Leipzig Lindenau. This project is so exciting and special for us and we are very curious how everything will turn out at the end. For now we took over responsibility for the floor plan and general moods for three different sized attic spaces. We are very excited how this project will develop in 2016. Maybe you will have the chance to to see and feel these spaces on your own...but we don't want to tell too much for now!

TAKTIL

For the Lookbook of a small high quality Swiss card manufacturer, which produce cards out of hand painted Japanese paper, we were responsible for art direction, location scouting, styling and photography. Soon you will find the results on our website!

STUDIO OINK : STUDIO AND GALLERY SPACE

We are very pleased that the renovation of our studio and gallery space is taking shape more and more. Of course there is still a lot of work which has to be done, like building a kitchen, workspace and furniture, but we are happy, that the most terrible work is over now.

We would be happy if you stop by in 2016 whenever you are in Leipzig!

MIGA DE PAN FOR STUDIO OINK

We proudly announce our collaboration with the incredible and colorful MIGA DE PAN from Argentina! She is working on a small collection of her beautiful embroideries exclusively for our online shop. We are so very excited to follow up her process and to receive her results! As her embroideries are usually not for sale in regular shops, rather in galleries, we are so very proud to have the chance to present her work in our shop and with a small exhibition in our future studio showroom as well! We hope you enjoy her poetical embroideries as much as we do! Thank you Adriana!

INTERIOR PROJECT LEIPZIG

Since May we are working on our own interior project in Leipzig. We've started with a complete makeover of an 106 sqm apartment in a building of the 20ies. We've pulled down walls and changed the layout. We had to build a new bathroom and a new kitchen. We've organized an original old Double door which we've integrated between the living and the dining space. In the bedroom we've fixed a glass wall, which is a natural division for the sleeping area and the dressing space, where we built up a custom made wardrobe. The floors were painted in soft colours like muted grey and pale beige. For the walls we were using natural colours like clay paint and lime colour. These colours provide a perfect indoor climate and give the walls a smooth and soft texture which produces soft white shadows. Next step will be the doors, which have to be painted again and another glass wall for the dining room. Moreover the kitchen has to be completed by adding the final linoleum top. For the living room we are going to design a custom made furniture for storing books, wood and ceramics. The dining table, which we have designed, will be soon ready to buy through our website.
